As an independent educational consultant based in Silicon Valley, I advise high school students and their families on all aspects of the colleges admissions process. I help students applying to colleges and universities in the United States and other countries, as well as international students interested in coming to the United States for their studies.
Prior to starting Jeffrey Yoon Educational Consulting, I worked as a college admissions counselor for Kerlee & Associates.
I was born and raised in Connecticut. I graduated from the Hopkins School, a private college preparatory school in New Haven. I earned an SB in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA in International Business and Marketing from the University of Southern California. I completed a Certificate in College Counseling, awarded with distinction, from UCLA Extension.
Prior to working in college admissions, the majority of my professional career involved the implementation and support of manufacturing systems for semiconductor companies. I was based in Bangkok, Thailand for over 10 years, while consulting on IT projects in Southeast Asia. While in Thailand, I also taught English part-time. I decided to transition to educational consulting because I enjoy working in the education field and helping students in their pursuit of higher education.
I regularly attend counselor conferences, webinars, and presentations. Each year, I also tour around 20 college campuses. This continued education is important in the ever-changing nature of college admissions.
I am a Regional Coordinator and Webinar Committee Member for Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA). I am active in the local MIT and USC alumni communities, recently serving as President of the USC Alumni Club of Silicon Valley.
